This year has been a lot. Throughout 2025, we have had so much uncertainty, upheaval, divisiveness, hate, and violence. The ground keeps shifting under our feet, and many of us are doing our best just to stay upright.
This Advent, I really want to intentionally slow down. There’s a yearning in me for spaciousness and breathing space. I want to cut out the noise, not do any holiday gift buying rushing, and just really be cozy and gently delighted.
Advent is a season of waiting in the dark. It’s an ancient invitation to not know and still trust, to let go of what isn’t essential, to listen deeply, and to cultivate patience and faith as we wait for something new and life-giving – but not yet in form – to emerge.
I really need that this season. And I need spaces that offer us this medicine – to be in community with others who “get” the weariness of the year and the need for rest AND also who hear something deeper and lighter calling them through the darkness, through the unknown, through the “not yet.”
I really want a slower, “softer joy” kind of Advent this year.
If you want this, too, please join me.
Beginning Thursday, December 4, I’ll be offering a three-week online gathering called A Slower Advent: An Invitation to Rest, Replenish, and Renew.
Each evening will be a gentle space for rest — journaling reflection, community sharing (if you choose), gentle somatic movement, and guided Yoga Nidra practice to help you rest deeply and listen inwardly.
We’ll gather together on three Thursday evenings in December:
December 4 — Rest: The Art of Letting Go
December 11 — Replenish: The Quiet That Restores
December 18 — Renew: Wonder, Awe, and Simple Joy
You’re invited to come exactly as you are — tired, tender, hopeful, or uncertain — and find rest in the company of others seeking the same.
Each 90 minute evening will include:
– a grounding opening
– reflection, journaling + optional sharing
– guided gentle movement and yoga nidra
– a soulful closing ritual
I’m in the middle of creating each session now. It’ll be a space where our bodies can exhale, where we can gently reflect and journal, and where we can then drop into a somatic practice of deep rest.
My intent is that for the majority of our time, we are EXPERIENCING (vs talking about) rest, replenishment, and renewal. There will be some sharing of our responses to journaling prompts so that we feel in community and that we are not alone, and in that safety we will then lead into some gentle stretches and then yoga nidra.
It’s a space for both introverts and extroverts. Share if you want to, don’t if you don’t want to. Come as you are. Come with comfy close to gently move and also lots of pillows and blankets and a space where you can lay down. If you want your camera off – fine. There are always folks who are willing to turn on their cameras so I don’t feel like I’m talking into an abyss!
If you don’t know what yoga nidra is, check out my free meditation of Yoga Nidra Fusion on Insight Timer (you have to download the app – but there is a free version and it’s awesome). I’ll be leading us through different versions of yoga nidra related to the theme of each week.
